    Located in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, the Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities (SHOO) project enhances the network’s capacity by enabling freight trains up to 1,800 metres long to be overtaken by faster services. Contracted in October 2024, Taylor Rail was engaged to deliver complex track, drainage, and earthworks infrastructure to improve operational flexibility, increase freight volumes, and enhance customer satisfaction.

    Key Achievements:

    • Set up and managed site facilities, including environmental sediment controls.
    • Completed extensive track reconditioning, including removal, remediation, installation, welding, adjusting, and verse testing.
    • Installed four culverts, three ULXs, and two crossovers to support improved drainage and operational efficiency.
    • Delivered embankment and drainage works alongside the existing alignment.
    • Successfully welded and stressed all installed rail and managed contaminated lead spoil.
    • Provided full Safeworking coverage and delivered track certification.
