As part of Victoria’s High-Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) Project, Taylor Rail was engaged by Degnan in September 2024 to deliver 1025 metres of external ballasted plain track, 120 metres of fixed track within the new Light Service Facility (LSF) at Calder Park, and all associated overhead traction works. This forms a critical component of the government’s broader initiative to introduce 65 new high-capacity trains to Melbourne’s metropolitan network.

    Key Achievements:

    • Completed planned rail scope ahead of schedule within the rail occupation, allowing Degnan to reallocate contingency time to civil works.
    • Delivered works in a tight-access, limited-window rail possession environment.
    • Deployed Taylor Rail-owned resurfacing equipment and trusted rail specialists to guarantee supply certainty.
    • Collaborated closely with Degnan and overhead structures partners to drive best-for-project outcomes.
    • Successfully constructed both plain and fixed track infrastructure within the LSF facility.
